What is represented by the 120 years of Genesis 6? While reviewing, for re-broadcast possibilities, some old audiotapes of the late Pastor Jesse Lee Andrus, Sr., I listened as he discussed the truth regarding this matter. When I consider the fact that the vast majority of professed believers are truly DECEIVED, I am all the more humbled that the Eternal hath counted us among the few to whom He is revealing TRUTH in this DAY OF SALVATION! Truth that transcends the sum total of man's wisdom.
By embracing Truth, we are destined to Rule as Kings and Priests in the government of God that will cover the four corners of this earth. Many a preacher have pounded the podium, declaring that the 120 years of Genesis 6 is the period of time that Noah preached before the great deluge. Can we prove this? Remember, we are told in I Thes. 5:21 to, "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." Let's investigate the matter. Gen. 6:3 says, "And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." Here is a period of time prophesied by the Eternal. Here the Eternal numbers the days of man. However, this prophecy has nothing to do with the period of time Noah preached until the flood came and cut off all mankind, save Noah and his family.
Gen. 5:32 records, "And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth." Following the record of Noah's birth, and the birth of his sons at age 500, we see the declaration of the Lord that He will destroy mankind because of their wickedness and corruption, including the crossbreeding of fallen angels with women, thus, producing giants, men of great stature and strength. Man's corrupt and perverted minds were filled with every imagination of wickedness. However, thank God for Noah who during this time of a perverted generation, WALKED WITH GOD!
God then gives Noah instructions regarding His plan. At this time, Noah was 500 years old. In Gen. 7:5-6 we read, "And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him. And Noah was SIX HUNDRED YEARS OLD when the flood of waters was upon the earth." Therefore, if the floodwaters came when Noah was 600 years old, and he began his commission from God at age 500, how long did Noah preach and do all that God commanded him to do? 100 YEARS, 600 - 500 = 100. My five year old can figure that out. And make no mistake Noah did preach. II Pet. 2:5 says, "And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a PREACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly." Too often we must UNLEARN that which is false before we can see the Light!
Now that we have that behind us, what does the 120 years represent? The key is contained in the context of Gen. chapter 6. Man is under his OWN rule, choosing to follow the ways of the ADVERSARY, the ways of the WORLD, and the ways of his own FLESH (SELF), instead of the ways of GOD! Thus, God has limited the period of time of man's Ruler-ship, man's Government, to 120 years. This period of time must work in harmony with the PERFECT plan of God. Have you heard of a JUBILEE Year or the Year of JUBILEE? In Leviticus 25: 1-4 we read, "And the Lord spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath unto the Lord. Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; But in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of rest unto the land, a Sabbath for the Lord: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard."
Verses 8-10 continues, "And thou shalt number seven Sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shall thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the Day of Atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family."
With ancient Israel, every fiftieth year was the year of Jubilee. A time of Rejoicing, a time of Freedom for all men, a time of Rest, a Holy time, a time of Rest for the land, a time of Refreshing, a time of Jubilation! This celebration occurred on the Day of Atonement each fiftieth year, which is a SHADOW of that great and unparalleled future event, the Millennial Reign of Jesus, Yahshua the Messiah right here on planet earth. Therefore, each of the 120 years represent a Jubilee year. Each fiftieth year is a Jubilee year. Thus, 50 x 120 = 6000. Yes, 6000 YEARS! The 120 years of Gen. 6:3, "....yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years," represent the time God has allowed man to choose his own way. During this time, which began after the fall of man, the Eternal has basically had Hands Off of the affairs of mankind except with regard to His elect, and when His intervention was necessary to direct activities and events such that the plan of God would be fulfilled to the letter. God made man on the sixth day. Thus, the number of man is 6. Considering the principle in II Peter 3:8, the 7th thousand year is upon us.
We are at the close of 6000 years, the days of man. Shout Hallelujah! For "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God." (Heb. 4:9) A time of restoration of the earth, a time of men learning how to get along one with another, learning to live in peace and harmony, and exercising their minds to KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD AND THE FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST. This is the truth as revealed in God's word. The bible predicted there would be false prophets. Some are ignorant and some willingly ignorant.
In either case, I Tim.1:7 testifies of them, "Desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm." Don't be deceived friends. Know this! The 120 days of Gen. 6, which represents 6000 years of the existence of man on planet earth, is coming to a close. The King of Kings is on His way! THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NEARING! May the God of Abraham help us all to be Steadfast, Unmovable, Always Abounding in the Word and the Will of God. Stay in the Race!
